Time to think about getting your vet scheduled for this year so that you have your Coggins and Rabies information back in time to submit your paperwork.
There is a new rule for registered horses at Rally.
To ensure horses at Rally are registered 4-H horses, all Paper work for
horses (including leases, copies of Coggins and rabies) must be in the 4-H
office 2 weeks prior to Rally or by April 25.
Paper work includes
one Slip of understanding and Authorization to Consent to Treatment of
Minor per rider
for each horse/rider combination
NYS 4-H Horse certificate
lease if needed
Coggins
rabies
Horses to be used in 4-H but not attending Rally are still under the May 1
deadline.
Youth at Rally may use a horse that is not their project horse BUT it MUST
be a registered 4-H horse. This gives youth an opportunity to try new
skills. All paper work for the horse must be in the 4-H Office by April 25.
Are you keeping track of your various horse care dates for your
project records?
Even though the Project Records aren't due
until October, you want to know what was done and when.
